Cathedral Rock, Crescent Moon Ranch, Sedona, Arizona

Published in Shutterbug, 2005.

Although I have photographed Cathedral Rock in Sedona, Arizona, a number of times, this photo-shoot with my brother. Brian Reinkensmeyer, was unique given the massive flow of river water. These photographs were taken in January 2005, shortly after major rain storms and flooding in the area. In the late afternoon, the mountains were truly majestic and aglow in warm light, creating a wonderful backdrop for the rushing rapids. Technical Info: A Hoya .6 Neutral Density Filter was used to achieve a longer shutter speed, creating the sense of movement in the rapids. A B+W polarizer filter was also used to eliminate glare from the water and stones. Photograph #2: Exposure: 1/2 sec at F/22. Photograph #3: 1/8 sec at F/25. Nikon D70 camera, Nikkor DX 18-70 mm 1:3.5 – 4.5G ED lens.
