Capture My Arizona Photo of the Day: South Coyote Buttes, Vermilion Cliffs.

Clear Passage Way, White Cotton, South Coyote Buttes, Paria Canyon - Vermilion Cliffs, Arizona-Utah Border

"Also part of the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliff Wilderness Area, Cottonwood Springs is situated in a vast plateau with low rising sand dunes and limited plant life. Most intriguing are the conical-shaped sandstone formations (teepees), striped with vividly colored mineral deposits. We've learned to tread cautiously near the teepees and horizontal expanses of scultpted sandstone, as the fins on these elegant rock formations are fragile and easily destroyed. Likely, this is on of the reasons for restricted access to this vulnerable area, with the BLM issuing only a few day passes for Cottonwood Springs and the Wave."
